The 3D-Shelf is a patient-specific, additively manufactured titanium implant for adults with symptomatic hip dysplasia. It is currently being evaluated in a first-in-human clinical investigation and not yet commercially available.

Engineered from the plan, for one patient.
Building on an established surgical concept
The 3D‑Shelf builds on the shelf acetabuloplasty concept, but uses a patient-specific implant instead of an autologous bone graft. The implant is positioned outside the joint capsule and is designed to preserve the native joint. The implant can be placed with a direct anterior approach.
Plan-led design
Implant geometry is derived from the patient-specific coverage target, planned implant position, and desired range of motion.
Additively manufactured titanium
Manufactured in medical-grade titanium using 3D-printing, with a porous bone-contacting surface intended to support bony integration.
Patient-specific guides
A matching patient-specific guide is provided to support transfer of the planned implant position to surgery.
Regulatory status
First-in-human clinical investigation
The 3D-Shelf implant is currently being evaluated in the ATHENA first-in-human clinical investigation and is not commercially available. It may only be used within the scope of an approved clinical investigation.
